課程概述

This course is designed to be "macroeconomics for agricultural economists (applied microeconomists)." Students interested in learning macroeconomics in a more comprehensive or traditional way are encouraged to consult with the instructor for potential alternative courses.

課程目標
(1) Understand the concepts, issues, and tools in macroeconomics that are necessary for applied microeconomists.

(2) Develop critical thinking in current macroeconomic issues. 
課程要求
40% Homework
20% Mid-term exam
20% Final exam
20% Final project
05% In-class quizzes and presentation (as bonus)

Homework will be assigned as least biweekly and mostly can be submitted online. Assignments will NOT be accepted after the due date unless prior arrangements have been made with the instructor. You must contact the instructor through emails prior to the due date and time with an explanation as to why you request an extension. It will be up to the instructor's discretion to grant such extension. A similar policy holds for all exams.

For the final project, Students are required to complete one of the empirical projects from Doing Economics by the Core Econ Team. Due by the end of 2021/01/15.

Students are encouraged to work collaboratively for the assignments, while each student (group) is required to submit the assignments individually.
Students are encouraged to present their work of the assignment in class. Each presentation will add to the final score by 1 to 3 points, based on the quality of the presentation.

The instructor encourages feedback throughout the semester to make sure the course goals and students' expectations are being met.

Macroeconomics / N. Gregory Mankiw. 10th ed. 2019
The course will largely follow the textbook. Students are encouraged, although not required, to purchase the book. Student can also get older edition of the book (although the 7th edition of newer is highly recommended) as well as the Chinese version.
